New atheists. What is your opinion of Matt Dillahunty?
I haven't been as impressed by his debates as I expected I would be and each time that I have reached out to his supporters they are mostly rude, i.e. "if you think __ (fill in the blank) is better, then you haven't read any of their work" sort of responses. I will look into more of his speeches/debates to make sure that I am giving it my best attention.
Heavy-handed on "The Atheist Experience" at times, but usually with reason. Is a great public speaker & is very knowledgeable. I enjoy watching & listening to him & tend to learn something from him most times.
I think he’s great. He’s one of my favorite atheist. Dan Barker is awesome, too. There’s so many that are insanely smart, it is unreal.
He and AronRa are two major reasons I became VOCAL rather than just letting things be. I wasn't so much "in the closet" but I didn't express my views very often.
Matt is a thought provoking voice in the atheist community and an excellent debater. He has contributed so much of his time to the secular, skeptic, and atheist community such as being the president of the Atheist Community of Austin and hosting The Atheist Experience. Of course he is wrong at times as no one is perfect, but he is honest enough to correct himself and point out where he has made mistakes. Though I don't always agree with his opinions or his approach (like hanging up on callers), he's done a lot to the raise the secular voice; at times I fee he could use a more Socratic approach when not in formal debate. I do like what he's been doing lately with his Atheist Debate Project.
Also, catch his "iron chariots" work!
