Would you ever date a religious person?
The religious aspect of the relationship becomes more of an issue as the relationship becomes more serious. In a lot of my experiences, the religious person thinks that I will convert at some point and believes converting it is a true testament of the love for them which is far from the truth. That's when the relationship ends.
I personally don't mind as long as there is mutual respect for each others beliefs.
I come from an Indian background and culture and religion has a massive overlap. There is also a lot of superstition and pseudoscience within the culture which I'm very skeptical about. The problem I have is that I would find it difficult to abandon both the culture and the religion.
Ideally I would like to date someone that is from a similar background culturally but not so deeply rooted in the religion.
"Oh God!" Just doesn't come out with the same level of enthusiasm from an atheist woman.
Then you're not doing it right.
Santa. The Easter Bunny. The Tooth Fairy. Jesus. Heaven. Hell. They're all the same... stories told to children to frighten them into submission.
Anyone who believes any of them are real is not working from a place of rational thought. I prefer intelligent conversation from my prospective mates.
Was married to one for 28 years. She was culturaly Christian and not pushy about it, so the only thing I asked was let's not decorate with angels and Jesus and you go/take the kids if you want to. She rarely did.
If that kind of arrangement did not work for a date, then that would be the determining factor.
I was married to one for 10 years, one of the more stupid things I've done! Never again!
