Its important to know that the younger generation are carrying the torch and moving humanity forward with science instead of religion. I'd love to see a world where there isn't a need for an atheist group because more of us would be atheist than not... however I doubt I'll love long enough to see that. Non believers under 40 give me hope!

It's a good dream. I agree.

But at the same time, (sorry to be political) I think the suffering caused by economic inequality, which is caused by capitalism, fuels religion.

So long as there are those suffering poverty, starvation and homelessness there will be those desperate enough to cling on to anything that offers hope.

It could be said that religion is a symptom.

@Ellatynemouth I agree with all that. Currently there is an administration in the u.s. that likes to keep the wealthy wealthy and the poor poor. Religion gives hope even if its not based on reality. It's why the slave owners made the slaves become Christians, so they would be calmer and believe that if they obey their masters there would be a better existence on the other side. I think the same could be argued about the rich telling the poor to have strong faith. That way the rich can continue to take advantage of the poor without mass protests in the streets.

Then the fun begins and you get to be in the 40s and over club with me and the others!

I'm already 2 1/2 years into my forties. To old for any under 40 group! Hahaha
