Between being told I look great "for my age" and getting carded for a beer last week... I have no idea if I should be flattered or offended. I think maybe both, but not in that order! ?
I can tell from your confusion that you're relatively young. So...let me say this...."Enjoy the HELL out of situations like this and realize that time passes quickly." NOT a ''big deal."
Hmmm.... well maybe next week will be be a better one.
When I was in my twenties I was always in trouble for looking so young..I got ordered out of restaurants that served wine, followed by store clerks who thought I was teenage shoplifter, was once arrested by a truancy officer when I rode my bicycle past a middle school in Louisville, KY.
When I had my second child at age 30, two women at our new church told me they'd thought I was a unwed teen mother and had been feeling sorry for me.
But when I was in my late 50s, and went out dancing with my husband at a club, the guy at the door carded me. I thanked him and he winked at me, so it's something they apparently to do lift the spirits of older women entering the club.
One of my son's middle school friend was great at this-when I started to introduce him to my mother he exclaimed, "And this must be your sister!"
It made my mom giggle happily.
I'm a late bloomer. I feel prettier now than ever before.
You got carded because the institution didnt trust its employees judgement and didnt want to risk their liquor license.
The person who said you looked good didnt know when to stop. Bad judgement. You never caveat a compliment.
Ya look great..
I don't know what carded means, but you do look terrific !
My server asked to see my identification to make sure I was over 21. I'm twice that and then some!
@Nottheonlyone
Wow ! You lucky girl. Now even I am interested ! LOL
nope I disagree... You look good and no wonder you got carded.
Aww, thanks.
