Art and creativity have an incredible ability to heal. When you're feeling lost or sad or confused or just want to be inspired, who or what do you turn to for comfort, hope, inspiration, reassurance, understanding? What specific writing, music, TV, movies, artists, or any other creative genres do you go to, and why? Post links, images, or videos, if you'd like.

I find Ella Fitzgerald to be healing.

For depression and comfort, I haven't found anything better than binge watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

As for inspiration and hope, there isn't any better source than Fight Club. (I alternate between the book and the film)

I quilt or knit...making something always keeps me level.

I did these too. Can’t knit anymore because of arthritis but I still make a quilt now and then. I also read a lot.

I sing with my classical choir, and seeing how happy the audiences are makes me happy. Sharing music (of any genre) is soothing.

I was so depressed at Kate Spade's and Anthony Bourdain's suicides, because I often think of creativity and artistic endeavors as ways to combat depression, but then you see these people who are totally immersed in ther own creative endeavors who are more tortured than anyone.

I don't have an answer for that.

I started my bucket list about two years ago. It was to read the classics I had been a little in awe of when I was young. These books, plays, poems are great to life me out of myself, especially if people are getting me down. I think it's about aspiration - the best of ideas expressed in the nicest of ways. Right now it's Dostoevsky's The Idiot and Spencer's Fairy Queen. For music, it would be something like Jessye Norman's Mild und Leise.

Drinking and fighting. I'm not stereotypically Irish because I'm not a Catholic.
Seriously though music, cooking and baking always do it for me.

I do none of that. I turn inward. I agree with Mark Twain: "Happiness, in order to be real happiness, must be shared. Misery can take care of itself."

I try to play songs on my flute or try sketching. I don't find passive consumption to be as soothing.
