The actions of Donald Trump and his administration to fragment and weaken NATO and the EEU are, at best, ignorant stupidity. At the end of World War II , the Soviet Russian empire was bent on worldwide expansion. Harry Truman and George Marshall saw that European countires' economies, political systems, and institutions were in shambles from the war, and by themselves could not stand up to the Russian giant. They reasoned correctly that it was to our advantage to help those countries, their governments, their economies, and their militaries so that they could resist the Russian onslaught.

We benefitted then and benefit now by having a thriving European buffer against Russia so that we do not have to defend, as an isolated nation, against the Russians at our own shores. Today, Europe still faces a Russian giant bent on expansion, and Trump's actions make no sense for either Europe or for our country.

At worst, we must defend against even the most remote possibility that Trump's actions are treasonous collusion with Russia to create a new world order of tyrannical oligarchies to destroy democracies in the world. Trump's actions against Europe MUST be stopped NOW!

I'm happy for NATO and the EU to be weakened. They are both immoral bodies.

I don't buy this nonsense about Russia either. It's not the enemy our rulers are telling us it is. Thousands of British football fans are in Russia right now. They're having a great time by all accounts.

I'm more worried about the United States causing WW3. And I seem to remember that the Russians liberated the concentration camps after WW2 whilst the United States helped Nazis flee to new lives in South America.

Respectfully, I disagree with your assessment of Russia. I was in West Berlin when they were threatening to start World War III to force us (the Americans, British, and French trooprs out of Berlin. Under Putin, the communist threat is gone, but the Russian threat has not. Putin stirs up trouble where he can (Syria, Ukraine, Iran, in Europe and the U.S. by using the media to plant false "news" and influence elections by treacherous means.. Putin has annexed parts of Georgia and the Crimea. Unless firmly opposed, he will continue his expansionist efforts. He, like Trump, has an authoritarian lust for power. What I sorry about is that Trump will collude with Putin to weaken Europe so that the Russians can attempt further expansion at the expense of Europe.

Of course, the Russians are being very nice in acting as the World Cup host. It is great public relations for Putin. What else did you expect. But, don't be fooled: He is the same man who poisoned multiple people in Britain.

@wordywalt

I respectfully disagree back.

And the CIA never poisoned anyone? The CIA is up to its neck in various countries! In some it is involved in torture and murder.

The US has a history of barbaric foreign policy from Vietnam to the Philippines.

@Ellatynemouth America has its mistakes and misdeeds, but the comparison of the barbarity and ruthless of Russia to the USA is patently false!
