My 18 year old cat, Ashley, got lost Sunday on the way from the bed to the couch. I had to rescue her when she got wedged behind the cat tree. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment.
She's Deaf, she has arthritis, and she's now almost blind from cataracts. And yes, that is a diaper on her, because she doesn't move to go to the litter box, just when she smells food or wants cuddles.
Her final vet visit is set for this Thursday, 10am, Arizona time.
Well, the deed was done Thursday. The vet agreed it was time after a very short evaluation. My boyfriend and I held her and pet Ashley as she died.
I still have 4 other cats at home. They all seem happier so far. Ashley growled at all of them because she couldn't see or hear what they wanted any more. Sad to say that 2 of my other cats just wanted to groom her, but Ashley wouldn't let them.
I am sorry to hear my cat isis was 17 when she passed lestat 15. I bought an rv so we can stay together. Just love the fur baby and be with till the end
I've lost so many wonderful animal family members throughout my life it never gets any easier you have my thoughts and compassion at this time
We feel your pain, we have all been there. It is, in fact, losing a family member. Knowing that you are doing "the right thing" is little consolation. It makes us want to believe in both a doggy and a kitty heaven.
