So I just participated in my first parade a an atheist for an atheist group. It went pretty well. There were a few people calling out things like "Jesus loves you." "God is real." "It's never too late." But overall pretty calm.
At the end a man yelled out very loudly "ATHEISTS!" I was a little concerned, but he then cheered us on.
Interesting. I've never heard the "It's never too late". My response would be: "Steppenwolf, 'At Your Birthday Party' -- 4th song on the 1st side of the album". If they went on: I'd mention that the name Steppenwolf is taken by the book of the same name, by Hermann Hesse. It's fun to watch the wheels spin.
Vets who are atheist marched in a town near us and a riot almost ensued...things were yelled at them and items thrown...you are lucky...I am not brave enough yet to confront such venom...
