@girlwithsmiles Quite often the early church recognized that it was competing with popular holidays, so it just swallowed them into its own mythos. That's why X-mas & Easter are celebrated when they are (among others). Major pagan celebrations happened at solstices & equinoxes so adopting & coopting them made sense!
