I believe in the power of faith. I’m in sales I see first hand how people who do not have faith and believe don’t do as well as people who do.

For example. When I walk into a room I have full faith that I’m closing the deal. And when it doesn’t happen I just write it off to it wasn’t meant to be.

Kind of like prayer. If you get what you want thank god and if you don’t god works in mysterious ways.

Do you think this is foolish of me? I’m one of the best in my company. The other top guys think the same as me.

What’s your opinion on belief and faith when not in a religious context?

Beleif and faith are probably not the direct cause of success. I would imagine that there is significant and substantial evidence that in an environment where your job is in sales, that selfconfidence from the seller is paramount to success. Confidence can come from different sources, An irrational beleif may be one source of confidence, But I am sure that there are better ways to source confidence.

Its a great question you ask. In a way most of us have faith. When the doctor writes a prescription for a medication that we have never heard of, most of us have faith that it is the right medication for the occasion. I guess it is really a case of making sure that when we do use the scope of faith and beleif we just make sure that there is good and rational reason for it

Hmmm... I would consider your faith as confidence in making a great presentation. You don't always make a sell. That's just life... you can't label that as a ( it wasn't meant to be ). Others would say that life is not fare because they couldn't make a sell every time. I say your in the position to have the opportunity to make a sell and to me that's fare.

You need to thank your skills and training not god. But I guess if your going to blame anyone for the times you fail, god is as good as anyone

Faith is believing something without evidence. You claim to have great sales metrics and a lot of success closing. Those are skills that you have to work on....not some unseen force...givw yourself the credit!

Technically, faith is religion, but we do have faith in things. You don't have to be of a faith to have a good attitude. It's probably more you--or any confident person--that you do well and take it well when you fall short. Being aware of self and having a sober attitude of yourself and everything helps one get through life.

"Faith is religion" is a meme put about by religious people . I see it in religious context as a last line of defence , filling in the gaps of explanations when they have no evidence for something. Faith is actually an evolved human faculty to bridge gaps in arguments and can have wide use outside of religion. It is pity that religion hi-jacked the word.

No offense, but I knew that I wasn't cut out for sales as a career and have tried to focus my career around not having to do that as one of my main professional objective (and maybe why I've felt more comfortable on the public sector side of my profession). Not knocking those who sell and sell well here, more like I'm trying to play to my strengths.

I think we might agree that confidence is important, you may draw upon faith to get there, I may have it from knowledge that I have the best match of skills/product for the audience/customer or if I've meticulously rehearsed my proposal or presentation or from researching the needs of the audience, and you may well do the same but with your faith as an additional confidence booster.

Confidence synonyms are: Belief, Faith, Trust, so if it also means belief, then that's religion. However I know when I am right, because of science, or experience, or I know I can do something because of my talents ????, that is not religion. Luck guessing is just that.

To me, faith is believing in something but having a complete lack of facts to support that belief. It's like closing your eyes and stepping out into a road and hoping you don't get hit by a car. It's essentially wishful thinking.

You can have faith in anything, but if you don't put in the preparation and hard work, it won't serve you at all. Those things give you confidence, and confidence serves you well. That is not a higher power; that is your power.

When you close the deal it's your work going right. When it doesn't ,its not faith in ways. It works from ways with people.
