Your Advice, please
I am getting rid of 45 years of collecting- books, stuff, you name it, I had it sitting on a shelf in front of the books. I just opened up the credenza in the dining room and there are at least six framed picture of one of my six grandchildren. I love the guy, so handsome, so cute. What to do with these pictures? Is it bad form to remove the photos from the frames and get rid of the frames? I never hung them up because I have framed art and maps on my walls and.. I have five other grandchildren?
What is thr right thing to do?
Donβt look your old books in the eye. You be inclined to keep them. I distribute old books to hospital libraries.
Oh, how right you are. I am already rereading one of the Gary Snyder poetry books. How can I possibly give that up? I should just put everything bac n the shelves and hope for a few more years. I need to find me a good reader who enjoys reading these books to me. Somebody with a great voice and hgh cheekbones.
@Spinliesel you should actually keep the ones that move and inspire you. Perhaps the others will move and inspire someone else.
Thank you, people. I was driving the grnadson to work this afternoon and mentioned the cache of photographs in frames of only himself. He said he would like them all. So, I will take your great advice, scan in the picture and send them off to the Cloud.
Laughed myself to tears about the credenza issue. I thought that was the correct and fitting description for that monstrous piece of furniture. Glad peple know how to look up things.
Carrying on !
The frames can go. Scan the photos so you have back-ups, email them to the grandchildren, put the originals in a beautiful album. You can also have someone combine all the electronic copies (include photos of the other grandchildren, too) into a lovely collage that you can hang on the wall.
Scan them and then throw them out. To me, it is more important to be in the moment with the kids now, than it is to remember them when they were little. If you haven't had a need to display the pictures before now, get rid of the frames as well.
Scan the photos to keep for yourself and send the actual ones to the kids/parents. Could local senior centers use the books? I know how you feel....sometimes, it's a real burden, having all these ''barnacles." GOOD LUCK!
Are they of the same age?
I would want to find a way to preserve the pictures that makes you feel comfortable. Maybe offer the frames back to his parents, assuming they supplied them, or donate/sell them. Just let them know how much you have appreciated their gifts.
My opinion anyways.
How many guys know what a credenza is?
I totally know what a credenza is:
now...
I think it is a car made in Spain, and why is it in her house?
I think you can get to Narnia with one.
