"The Final" A movie where bullied kids drug, kidnap, torture and mutilate their oppressors from school. I think we can all agree that bullying is wrong and needs to be stopped (along with all forms of discrimination). My question is should such a brutal revenge type movie be made and shown?. Won't it send the wrong message to the bullied? Please try and confine your answers to this question and this issue. Part of me says it's no different than all the movies that show kids being bullied, doesn't that tell the "elite" that it's ok for them to bully? The movie also ends with some of the bullied kids committing suicide. I know about free speech and all but to me this comes close to incitement and I'm looking for your opinions. Thanks

@lerlo incitement is a possible byproduct of any creation. Do you think we should just stop creating to avoid this?
@JenBeberstein Of course not and I didn't suggest that. There are laws against incitement to riot for instance and a movie with the specific and intentional message of revenge on your bullies and suicide might be considered such incitement. Having researched suicide for 6 months and finding that it tends to be contagious, this movie set off alarms for me. That's why I asked the question. Apparently, as with all the rest of the violence in this country, people seem to be ok with it based on the responses here. Nothing is out of bounds, torture, bullying etc.
@lerlo you are the one saying you see an aspect that is lost on the rest of us.

I've watched this movie yesterday remembering the poll you posted, imo the movie was average. It is far less violent than other movies ive seen. Plus not only did they not kill any of their bullies, they let them go. I give the movie a 4/10 (not because of violence). If this movie was the straw that broke the camels back for you i feel you've lead a sheltered life.

@Tejas Believe it or not people in "distress" use all kinds of things for advice. If you've been bullied and you're at your wits end and seeking some way out, it's easy to use the methods in the movie. If you've never been bullied or discriminated against in any way you probably won't get it.
@lerlo Cant't say ive ever been bullied too hard, mostly by family or fake friends. but being non religious in the south my whole life, I can say ive had a little bit of discrimination thrown my way. By your logic people that watch passion of the christ might go over the edge and kill jews, even if that is the case the movie isnt to blame. People should be held accountable for their own actions, movies and shows don't make people do anything. I don't believe in censorship unless its specifically calling for violence or if its slander, and that movie didnt call for any violence not even close in my view.
Only an unstable person watches a movie about torture and murder and then thinks its okay to do so.

Censorship is a peculiar beast. Extreme violence and incitement to racial/cultural hatred is one thing but did you know, apparently Life Of Brian was either banned or given an X certificate in 39 councils in England. The ban was only lifted in Torbay . In 2008!

Yes, when it comes to non-violent speech. so that clever person or the person they are talking about doesnt get hit in the head or shot for what they are saying. 
I don't support dictating what kind of movies filmmakers should or shouldn't make. People always have the right to choose which movies they want to see.

While I agree with you that morals shouldn't be dictated, afterall that we have theism for, but I also feel that the Amendments and the Bill of Rights come with certain responsibilities. That's why it is illegal to yell, "FIRE", in a crowded theater.
My point, yes they have the right to make the movie. Yes you have the right as a consumer to attend or not attend. but sometimes it may be wiser to ask the question, "Should we make it"? Perhaps if we hesitated and asked this question of social responsibility maybe some actions might just occur less frequently?
Yes of course but just like incitement to riot is a crime a movie suggesting to the bullied who are at their wits end that they should retaliate with force or commit suicide I just think sends a wrong and dangerous message
