This is a great article that was written on the man that stole my car.
I've run into scammers , too ! Generally speaking , they're trying to develop a relationship of some kind , too fast , and have a sudden unexpected emergency early on , and need you to give them a lot of money . Don't fall for it . never wire money , especially to someone you've never even met in person .
Well, too late. I fell for it in a big way. We met in person and hung out for a few weeks. Looking back there were zero red flags. He has been in prison in Virginia, Missouri, and Colorado. He has been conning women for years across the country. He really humiliated me but lesson learned. My trust is MUCH harder to EARN.
Well the good news is he is currently serving a 6 year sentence and is not eligible for early release. I've also met several of his other victims and that has been really fulfilling. I'm doing a podcast with AARP next month about scammers.
AARP did an expose in their monthly paper , awhile back . Three of them had attempted to scam me . I didn't fall for it . But it was nice to know I got that one correct . AARP even included the photos one of them had mailed me .
Lots of cons online these days. I've run into at least 3 in the last 6 months. My golden rule "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"...
This guy was good! And I thought we were in a real relationship. He didn't ask for anything except to borrow my car to run to the bank. And we had been dating for a bit so I trusted him. I'm just glad he's tucked away in prison for the next 6 years.
Almost makes you wish that hell really existed for morphodites like him!
I'm not angry anymore. I was for a long time. And I actually kind of lost it for a little while. He had the car for 2 months and during that time I would take days off from work and drive around aimlessly looking for him or my car. Him being caught allowed me to get some closure.... I actually wound up shaving my head after he stole the car and my hair is finally growing back.
@ColoradoSass Good to see your doing better now that he's in prison.
@PickledRick Thank you! I always bounce back stronger than before.
