Would you donate DNA or tissue samples to scientific research? If so, how would you identify a legitimate research project/agency?
My DNA ends up in tissues all the time. Wait. Did I read your question correctly?
Sure. If it has a chance to benefit others, I'm all for it.
Already have. I don't care who wans my DNA. If you really want to pay for the sequencing costs be my guest.
I donated via a program in NY state. They told me it would be used for research.
I intend to donate my body to forensic research after I die, but although I'm not generally paranoid or prone to entertaining conspiracy theories, I'm not keen on having information of that nature in databases that could be vulnerable.
I would have to have a compelling reason and a solid guarantee of anonymity to donate DNA, other than in the form of blood.
I probably will because more narcolepsy research is always good.
I watched a documentary about a donated body left to research. It was interesting. They cut off one arm, cremated it for the family and then dissected the rest for research. I noticed the cadaver had fake boobs.
I saw that one also, yes it was interesting. I think they were trying to show body problems caused by being overweight.
You talk to research facilities and see what places they suggest. I know I'm sending my brain to the national research center for schizophrenia, but I haven't decided with the rest of me
"I'm sending my brain to the national research center for schizophrenia". That's a great idea, I didn't know that there was such a place.
