I think A-com has replaced fb as my favorite internet time use!
Well...FB never WAS my ''favorite,'' but I'm really happy, having left it behind for all of you all!
I used to spend all my time on Atheist Nexus. Then my ex left me and I went to Facebook but I'm getting tired of the "likes" on there. There are so many bots on there also that try to influence every political post. Since coming here I find that most of my time is spent here when not doing other things with computer.
Keep in mind that my computer is my news, my TV, and my connection with the entire world. If you think something is "fake news" try watching it in another country and see what they say on the issues.
You're so right about watching news from other countries. When I lived in Germany, I communicated with lots of people still living in the United States, and their versions of CNN and MSNBC were vastly different from what those networks aired in Germany. It's less focused on making US forces appear heroic, less concerned with the agenda of our government promoting "war for freedom" as a cover for corporate interests. There's more balance in their reporting because they're not picking sides and portraying one as heroic. There's a global perspective that Americans just don't get. Now, I rarely get news from countries that aren't predominantly white and eurocentric. Germans get news about South America, Africa, Asia, etc. like this information is imperative and relevant to them. Because of this, they understand global politics in a way Americans don't.
@GinaMaria Right on. There is a slant to news and everything else. In the days of "Lavern and Shirley" being a popular sitcom it had to be shown in some countries with a disclaimer at the beginning of the program. To make it palatable to all it was said that "these two women have escaped from an insane asylum."
