The sign at one of the churches in town says “God loves you whether you like it or not”. I felt gross and violated as I drove past the church.
I think it is pretty benign. I don’t object as it is simply meaningless to me. How can something nonexistent do anything, only a person you know can love you so it’s plainly nonsensical. It is harmless compared to signs of hate that racists and nazis daub on the doors and walls of Synagogues and mosques. Let’s try to keep some perspective.
Usually their signs are pretty harmless but this one just seems unsettling to me. Just made me cringe.
This is the only church in town that puts up signs with sayings other than just worship times and special events. Some of the things that they put up make irate. They get pretty aggressive, and some are somewhat sexist in my opinion (something to do with men are this and women are that, or mothers are this and fathers are that). Unfortunately, I have to drive past this church on the way to and from work. UGH.
I agree with you, those type of signs just are not necessary at all!
It's telling that they don't see this as ironic or weird. Imagine a man approaching you and saying, "I love you whether you like it or not". And yet somehow this becomes okay when god is the stalker!
Made me think it could be what the priests are telling the little choir boys, God tells me I should love you whether you like it or not. SHIVER!!!!
