I just saw the newest Star Wars movie today and I don't want to give any spoilers but I do want to talk about it. So I settled on this: In what order do you think the movies should be watched?

I think that the best order would be starting with a New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back. Then you should jump back and watch the Phantom Menace but only if you want to and the other two prequels in order, Rogue One (optional), then watch Empire and the two newer films plus episode nine when it's done.

What about you?

It really depends on how many you intend to watch. If I were to recommend just one or a few, then I'd recommend A New Hope or all of the original trilogy. If you were planning to watch all of the movies, then I'd suggest watching them in order starting with Episode I and also include Rogue One.

I can see watching Rogue One before A New Hope. I think the prequels are entirely skip-able. Nothing refers back to their storylines.
