If romance in movies is bullshit then why does it turn women on?
...often beats reality (yet such romance is sometimes real). Hell, how many of us humans do not sometimes live in imagination (or delusion or illusion)?
@thatgirllaura Yep, reality often sucks...sometimes, though, such is a matter of perspective. Did I mention that the sole positive thing I derived from the war (other than getting back alive) is the understanding that no matter what happens, you just pick up your fucking pack and keep moving? By no means, though, is Pollyanna a rewarding course.
I'm guessing it turns some women on. Many people have sexual fantasies or have triggers for it. Fairly obvious IMO.
I find the romance in movies entertaining but I don't consider it truly romantic from my perspective.
What I do find romantic is when a guy cleans up after himself.. mmm..
And spontaneously starts mopping the kitchen floor with that big wooden stick.. Ooooh baby...
Did you take out the garbage without me asking? Oh my gawd... don't stop!!
You would want to marry me. Really
I would totally marry you. The problem is my other three husbands, not one of whom knows of the others.
If you can clean up THAT mess for me, you're in!
@Athena Hey based on your posts it would be worth the effort
All kidding aside messiness is a deal breaker. I expect my partner, as do I, to put clothes in the hamper, never ever ever leave dirty dishes in the sink. If you think that little of your partner, and more fundamentally yourself, that speaks for itself. I am not interested in being with such a person.
So, you're telling me that you'd marry me for the things I say, and not because you think I'm cute?
Never been so insulted. EveR!
Now I'M a mess.
Adding... the only thing worse than a messy partner is one who's a theist!
Making your favorite dinner, without being asked, surprise tickets for a getaway to a place you've mentioned, having your car serviced, little things....
It's not always bullshit. When you find it, it can be special. It was for my longtime partner and me.
The forbidden fruit angle. We want what we can't have
Also if our significant others did half of the stuff the super hot charasmatic guys in movies did we'd call the cops lmao
Because we want it to be real, even though we know it’s bullshit........we are hardwired romantics! Pretty Woman springs to mind.........ahh..Richard Gere!!
I hope you are asking the women. If you ladies don't know the answer, you certainly can't expect us to know. I'm still trying to figure out why women like soaps and the Housewives of Anywhere USA.
Only the women can answer based on our personal reasons (and not all women feel the same), but men can always speculate.
I know the sweetest and loveliest women who are addicted to the Housewives shows as well, so I've wondered that same thing. I've only seen a few minutes of one episode, by accident, but the women were so nasty to one another, I considered what could possibly be the appeal.
I believe, similar to playing out human aggression in sports or violent films, these shows are outlets for the things we can't do, or wouldn't say ourselves. In other cases, it helps validate the behaviour of people who do like to relate to others that way.
In general, I think people are attracted to things that make us feel something, whether it's joy, shock, fear or excitement.
Women fall for BS?
@Donotbelieve No, it was a stupid response and not very nice either.
Because we all like fantasies, I'll bet you even have a few.
Is there proof that it does ?
@thatgirllaura ...thoughtful , caring and respectful .
I'm 3 for 3 , but ... not a movie star .
