Let's say tomorrow, the government told us that aliens do exist and that they have been interacting with a number of them over the last 50 years. How would you react?
85% of what the government tells its people is crap. I would take their comments with the same amount of scepticism as I take everything else they say.
Most of the government believe they were created by God so it wouldn't surprise me what they believe.
I would be shocked as three facts are then revealed, first that there is alien life that is sentient. Secondly that our world governments haven't managed to piss off said species enough to eradicate us. Lastly, and this plays into the second, that these alien species must be as gullible as us for believing a damn word from said governments.
I'd humbly go round to see an old school friend, tail between my legs (many of us have tails but for logistics reasons the aliens overdose us with interference rays tuned to block our tail-awareness), and apologise profusely for laughing openly at the amount of his life he wastes believing and propagating rumours about all the UFOs and ETs that the people who really run the US (while republicans and democrats blindly follow their plan) are about to fully disclose to us over the next 2 years. He'd still get some ridicule for saying the involvement of some guy from Blink 182 lends the whole thing any credence!
I used to think that way until I informed myself with many credible sources (airline pilots, ex-government officers ,high security clearance people educated researchers,, etc.
Now that I have studied this subject for many decades, I realize it is a waste of time to try to convince those whose curiosity has not extended that far.
I would want to see the evidence. If it were true, I'd be excited.
We have that organization called SETI Institute. They have been looking for a while and haven't found any.
Seti has decided to listen for radio waves in the naive assumption that alien races would send them out. There are many ufo research organizations for UFO's but none ads single-minded,and anthropocentric as SETI.
