POF should be called POS. I prefer Bumble and OKC.

On the other side of that though, at least on POF (and other dating sites I've been on), some of us either get lost in the weeds or ignored. I know that I would only ever get about one response in a hundred messages. Maybe fewer than that. I would usually send something to the effect of "Hi. I saw your profile and I thought you looked interesting." I'd mention something specific that I wanted to know more about, hoping to start a conversation. Never said anything about appearance or wanting sex, and never asked to meet on the first message. I also used complete sentences and proper English punctuation/capitalization.

And I realize that I'm not everyone's kettle of fish, nor do I expect a response from anyone--especially now that I've realized that I'm just not meant to be with anyone, ever. But there are good ones out there. You just have to be patient and find them.

Instead of ignoring stupid messages I've started messing with them for fun. For instance, my most recent message just said "you're sexy."

My reply: I know

I am on POF also. You get what you pay for. It's free. Just have to take one at a time and be patient I find. Thank goodness for the blocking feature ?

Good luck POF doesn't like me and usually ends up kicking my info after a while. Other sites have fakes wanting to have me in "Google hangouts" with them. How wonderful! I even have a relative who thinks he has found love online and the woman is doing a stint with UNICEF but will come to live with him when that is over. People are so gullible.
It's true that I met my ex of 12 years online but I checked her out and even did the cam thing with her. She was honest. You have to be careful. Last year somebody tried to scam me and used the pics of a minor porn star as their own. When I presented this fact to the scammer they said maybe the porn star was scamming them instead. The person quickly dropped me after that.

I'm on POF and find it very mediocre, and was just catfished but that isn't their fault. In 5 years, have only had one face to face meeting and no relationships. Most people are religious, gold diggers and have multiple dogs and cats. Not my cup of tea. Your experience is a function of the way most men work. I'm a guy.

Tinder seems more honest.

Plenty of Fish is like most other dating websites. The same people, Nigerian scammers, and young guys (infants to me) who propositioned me for sex. I quit POF years ago.

Have had better luck on Fitness Singles, a paid dating website.

Tried POF many years ago - I identified as an atheist who values truth (based on facts) over superstition. I was asked by one person "Why are you angry because all atheists are angry." Nothing worth fishing for in that pool.
