I agree with not restricting your pool to only locals, but in the meantime - spread the word about this site in local groups. Facebook is a great avenue for this. That's how I found this site.

However, why do people always assume the best person for them is within 50 miles? That sounds an awful lot like just settling for who's around.

It could be that this site is still young. It doesn't have enough members to find many people within your own community.

Print some fliers with "agnostic.com" on them, with a brief summary, and post them where you're able to, within the mile radius in which you'd like to meet people.
