So fellow unbelievers...what do you think about Astrology? Also a load of nonsense?
Sure! It is so obviously true that the planets all line up in a certain way so that they can tell me how to live my life because of my birthday. ?
If you’re asking about the science, the science is in. There is not a single shred of evidence that human lives are affected or directed by the movement of the stars and constellations. When measured the possibility that they could have any influece at all is laughable. The distances are literally astronomical.
Humans see our environment in patterns. It is one of the things we are best at. We can see pictures and patterns in the pure random static of a TV screen. Structured semi random behaviors like Astrology, Tarot, and I Ching can help us put those random/patterns together and make sense of them. They are useful on the same way the Rorschach Test and the Meyers-Briggs test are useful. But the magic doesn’t come from the stars or the cards or the test. The magic comes from inside. The magic comes from us.
@KissedbySun I’d still say that there is no evidence that the sun’s position in the sky at the time of birth has any affect or relation to one’s personality or future events. There’s not a lick of evidence that shows that it or any other celestial body is in any way a source for predicting or determining who we are or will become.
@KissedbySun well that I can wholeheartedly agree with. The sun and stars are the source of all things after all. Btw, I really like your name!
I believe it is a crock of bovine excrement.
Have you ever answered questions about what your thought of this or that? And then told you are this type of person. It is found in some businesses and governments. It is an attempt by management to determine the best mix of people. It can be harmless or devastating. I call this 'pigeon-holing'; and attempt to put round pegs in square holes. Most of the time it will fit, but it never fits everyone. Astrological traits are a similar attempt to attribute qualities to people. Modern astrology is wrong anyway -- it uses fixed dates, rather than the actual constellations and there are 13, not 12 signs. It has as much value as one wishes to place in it -- though I think flipping a coin is more reasonable.
My neighbor informed me three years ago that I am a Scorpio. She's weirdly involved with astrology. I was curious about what that meant and read stuff online to find out. My conclusion: meh.
