So, how do y'all respond when people knock on your door promoting their religion or church?

(This should be good... ???)

I just say "I'm not interested" and I close the door.

I answer the door nude and blind them. Then I tell them "oh that's okay Jesus will heal you"

This was always my approach. I was working nights and the JWs used to wake me up knocking on the door.

It makes them so embarrassed and apologetic they usually forget to mention Jesus.

I just found a reason to start going door to door! ???

@Strabo I worked nights too. sleep is sacred when you work nights I tell them to go away and why.. the world does not respect the night worker

Tell them I'm a Pastafarian and ask if they'd like me to give them more information on the amazing Flying Spaghetti Monster. 🙂

They seem to know to skip my house.

2

The last time, l told them l was an atheist and they left. I used to just ignore them.

2

my ex used to talk to them at length for reasons still unknown to me (he was also an atheist). me, i take the route my mother taught me, hide out of view until they leave.

This lady stopped by my house and she was a jehovas witness, she has been brainwashed into thinking the more people she converts the better her life will be when she gets to heaven.

It's all bullshit but I take her pamphlets and flyers and throw them right into the trash. I feel that way she will have less to pass onto more gullible people. I told her I was an atheist and she keeps coming by my house. I don't care, as long as I can dispose of her materials I'm happy.

I've tried to hear them out, then ask questions that provoke critical thought. I've not had good luck with that. So perhaps I need to just not answer the door.

2

I ask them if they want to join me fooling around with my sister.

I don't know, they might go for that incest stuff.

2

I normally politely say no. This last time I just pointed at the no soliciting sign on the front door and they moved on.

2

where I live we get no visitors. Once in a blue moon a Mormon will come by. The latest was several years ago...a very nicely dressed young lady and her son, maybe 8. I was extremely cordial in wishing them a nice day, and I refused to let them start their spiel.

2

I start asking really difficult questions, then they run off quickly.

When I was younger, I would get into debates with them, which was fun for me, but I have since learned to be more accepting of other's beliefs and cultural differences. We experience discrimination for our lack of believing. We know how that sucks. So why are we making fun of them? It may be hypocrisy to us, but they REALLY believe in what they are doing. They come to us with love, hoping to save us. They come out of kindness and empathy, not spite or malevolence. When they come to my door I thank them for what they are doing, but share that we have different beliefs. That usually does it.

I tell our German Shepherd; "It's for you" and he handles it.

I tell them that I don't accept door to door solicitors. When they tell me that their not selling anything, I let them know they are trying to sell a terrible fairy tale.

depends on my mood. usually they come at a bad time so I shoo them away sometime I will engage in a philosophical discussion, My x was super drunk once( why he is an x) and he wanted to talk to them well he talked and talked they couldn't get away from this drunk man. I think they didn't come back after that, One person said she would answer the door nude

I once asked JWs if reincarnation is a fact, how did we get past Adam and Eve. Screeching halt to that conversation.

I don't get mad at them anyways because that is the ideology.

1

I usually am polite, and tell them that I am an Atheist. if that doesn't stop them, then I will hit them with some contradictories of what the bile actually says. they never have a good reply. ant that makes me laugh.

1

I answer the door with a... yes, can I help you?

1

I also do not answer the door. If I happen to do so, then I wish them luck after telling them I am an atheist.

1

Nothing special. I usually nicely say that I'm an atheist. Which says without saying "I'm not interested", and they usually just leave. shrug

I invite them in if they are proselytizing a faith I am unfamiliar with. Needless to say, this rarely happens anymore, as only a few religions still do door to door conversion.

I have asked Jehovah witnesses in to try to influence what they think. I offer respect because Bettelheim said JVs in concentration camps survived better than some because they maintained their faith and helped people. My father in law said two JVs were once asked in by someone and then one said to the householder, 'What happens now?' The person said,' I thought you would know.' 'No' the Jehovah's Witness said, 'Its never happened before'.

I was brought up as a JW, most of us had pretty thick skins and we were taught from a young age not to take the rejection personally. After all it is the message they are rejecting, not you.
I live in an apartment block and I never get calls but something many do not know is that you can request to be put on a "do not call list" that will be passed up the chain and you will probably no longer get calls.
Each JW congregation seems to have favourite neighbourhoods that get worked very hard, while some areas get called on yearly, other streets will get pounded twice a month. If you really want to get rid of them, get yourself on the list.
