I may be wrong but the the majority of people I see here are over 50...this surprises me because the general assumption of Atheists are that they are the younger generation.
I would say most of the people here are agnostics not atheists, hence the name of the site. Maybe not that many people know about this site, so the ages may skew higher. But I think the majority of atheists and agnostics are younger than older.
Well , keep seeing ads here for the ' our time " dating site which I think is owned by match which means that maybe this site is just a way to lure ppl to match while intentionally offering no one nothing romantically for free ?
So , maybe its entirely marketed towards the ' our time ' age group ?
I don't think this site has anything to do with Match . Match is about making money , this site isn't .
There are no ads on this site.
@RavenCT ...i havent seen any ads either that I can recall being placed on pages , but I have had at least 6-8 full- screen popups for ' our time ' ...just butt in to whatever I was doing .
Based not only on my own experience but on other discussion on the Internet I believe that the assumption that most atheists are young is because the actual atheist movement is young. Atheist was considered a bad word until atheist began fighting back. Hardcore religious people still consider it a bad word but the atheist community is now pointing out to the world that we are your neighbors, your parents, children, friends etc. Somewhat similar to the gay movements of the 70s and 80s.
So what has happened is we older atheists realize we are not alone and we look for community support. Maybe younger atheists have that support already in their peer group.
