Would you hop on a long flight just to spend a few days? I've joked with friends since I went to China last year that I would take off on a Friday morning, eat all the food in Shanghai and fly back on Monday. I even had a dream about it. Haha! Is this something you would consider?

When I was little younger for sure. Now a days I would consider on a lark, but not a steady diet. Love travel, but flying doesn't agree me as well as it used to.

I used to do that a lot, but i've been in many too many airports, through too many security gates, and stayed in too many hotels. LLOL

If i can't drive there, whatever is at the other end must be important enough to even consider booking a flight again.

If the United States ever wakes up and becomes visitor friendly again however, the first thing I will do is to book a flight to Florida at the diagonally opposite end of North America to visit my only living family. That would be important enough even for just a couple of days.

Nuh uh.... I have spent way too many hours flying between Australia, USA and the UK and everywhere else in the world! To fly anywhere from Australia you are looking at at least 8 hrs, more likely 12-16 and then some. It kind of sucks the enjoyment out of flying (if there is such a thing). 😕

Yes! but I generally do it just to catch a Broadway show in NYC and then fly home again 🙂

Absolutely. Icelandic Air just started flying out of our local airport and Travel Zoo always has good deals on a 3 day weekend in Reykjavik. That is going to be on my calendar very soon. Not so much for the food but for everything else.

If I had the money? Absolutely. My last relationship started online and it led to both of us traveling back and forth via airplane. Granted, it was only from Missouri to Pennsylvania. But I have no qualms about traveling.

Now, if you’re asking specifically about China, I would take a pass. If I could do it to Italy, Germany, Scotland, South Korea, or Japan, most definitely. But if I was going to take a trip over 10 hours, it would have to be first class. I’ve done 4, 14+ hour trips in economy and economy plus. It just sucked because it was way too cramped, noisy, and overall unpleasant. And I also had the (mis)fortune of getting a free upgrade to first class and got a little spoiled on it.

So it goes back to the money. If I had it, I would.

As someone whose flown from the UK to Australia way too many times, I'd put a maximum of 8 hours East/West flying time on that one. Any longer and the combination of jet lag and spending half a day in a giant aluminium tube breathing other people's farts makes for a non-fun experience.

absolutely not...I visit China every year...but cannot imagine that travel for less than a month...

Absolutely if the financials weren't an issue. Give me a private jet, and a curious minded companion and I'd travel to an place. But my locations would more than likely be ancient temples, Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge and places like that. But I would rest my head in Paris, Budapest, and Cairo,

If I had the money maybe. I greatly prefer spending much longer periods of time in one place when I travel. I like getting a decent sense of the people and places I visit but your trip does sound like a lot of fun. If you do it please post pictures!

I couldn't swing the cost of a flight for that short a time.

I am not into food like that. I may go to Shanghai for some serious lovemaking with some women in my life but they are kept busy with their husbands right about now and not in Shanghai. Love over Food. Don't get me wrong... I lived 3 years in Spain... best Paella I ever had was in Germany, cooked by a Spaniard in my kitchen, shared with my friends and co-workers, ingredients cost me about 80 us dollars. Worth every penny, so I understand good food and better travel but... good moments with Ladies will be my thoughts when I die.

If I didn't have to worry about money, I'd give up all but a large suitcase of personal belongings and just travel.

I dream about that all of the time, one day I’m just gonna do it and see what it’s like.
