Very pretty but they have been bred so pretty that their brain cavity is pretty small, they are known for having hip dysplasia and hypothyroidism. Any breed that gains popularity has issues with overbreeding and inbreeding as well so choose your breeder well.
or even consider adopting from a shelter, and saving a life ...
@evergreen Animal Shelters are just stacked to the rafters with pure bred Irish Setters.
@Surfpirate actually, you might be surprised at purebreds of all kinds that end up in shelters ...
@evergreen Oh they are there, Delta dogs and abused dogs and the rare gem that you can polish but they are very rare indeed. Lots of pits and staffordshire terriers, chihuahuas and pekepoos or labrdoodles etc. but if you want consistency then you have to pay. My first Bouvier was a rescue, great pedigree but a broken spirit from abuse, I spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars bring him back from the brink and championed him to his CKC and his Obedience levels. There are no bad dogs but there are a lot of damaged dogs and if people don't go into it with their eyes wide open those dogs recycle back to the shelter until they are euthanized as an unplacable dog, not their fault but the same end result.
