National Geographic
The religiously unaffiliated, called "nones," are growing significantly. They’re the second largest religious group in North America and most of Europe. In the United States, nones make up almost a quarter of the population. In the past decade, U.S. nones have overtaken Catholics, mainline protestants, and all followers of non-Christian faiths.
A lack of religious affiliation has profound effects on how people think about death, how they teach their kids, and even how they vote. Recent surveys are finding that it’s happening startlingly fast. Religion is rapidly becoming less important than it’s ever been.

Acting as an additional cushioning layer, these toppers distribute body weight evenly, reducing pressure on sensitive areas. This promotes proper spinal alignment and comfort, contributing to a restorative sleep experience. [promattresstopper.com]

I think people are getting tired of being lied to. I expect that after the Trump era, with its constant and obvious lies and exaggerations, there will be something of a backlash against the bullshit, the lying, the posturing - which is exactly what religion has always been, and religion will be caught up in that. That's when you'll see the rise of the nones.

Yay! Needs to move faster.

Religion is blind and science is lame, quote from Einstein.

When non believers empower themselves with more imagination and spirit. They will move much faster.

My only concern is too many of the "nones" may be opting out of political life as well as religious. They need to exercise their civic responsibilities to prevent the religious and political demagogues from taking over.

Really good question, does anyone really know?

My keen study on patterns and cycles of world history from where it is coming from and where it is going. Works unattached and dictates to me what I must do.

I can only trust the true leaders throughout human history, the people. Will take action when the traumatic abuse from heirachary system of political, Religion and military shit hits the fan.

I am deeply impress with non religious rapid growth and anarchist bringing new ways of thinking for the individuals rather than be slaves to the State and Greedy Bastards.

Thst is exactly so. What is not addressed is that it's not a response to religion it's a response to a dysfunctional society. More fringe political parties will arise, diluting the pool of mainstream voters. Most of these fringe parties will be left leaning and split the left wing vote. You will then be stuck with a right wing agenda until it devolves into fascism snd tyranny. Sharpen your pitchforks now, you'll need them!

National Geographic sounds pretty truthful and efficient study to me. The shift is moving fast. Look at the Pope who now believes in Evolution, Big bang, Aliens, hell dose not exist and dogs go to heaven. Had to throw in doG backwards for God

According to a study released by the Public Religion Research Institute.
The future of religion in America is young, non-Christian and technicolor. Almost all denominations, give way to younger members, who tend to be of different races,

American evangelicals — once seemingly immune to the decline experienced by their Catholic and mainline Protestant neighbors — are losing numbers and losing them quickly. As atheists, agnostics and those who say they do not identify with any particular religion — the group known as the “nones” — hold steady at about one-quarter (24 percent) of the population.

This report provides solid evidence of a new, second wave of white Christian decline, said Robert P. Jones, PRRI’s CEO and author of “The End of White Christian America.”

There are a few belts and pocket area that are strongly Christians. Plus politicans and military with Religion still have strangle hold on power for centuries. My prediction is Religion will be a minority rather than a majority in my lifetime. Never been wrong in world events yet.

I like the sentiment but I'm not seeing it in my everyday life. My state is likely to vote the biggest redneck I've ever seen into the governor's mansion, largely due to Trump's Bible beaters.

I've been seeing this for some time, first noticing it in the lives of my kids, both of whom are unchurched millennials, as are all of their friends. The religious right in America is in the midst of making a desperate play for significance in the public sphere, but even this is a last gasp, as subsequent generations tend to be more skeptical of religious authority, more cosmopolitan in their world views, and in general, more secular in their thinking. It will take a little longer here for the churches to empty, as they have in northern Europe, but it will eventually come to that.

I hope those statistics are true and the nones are larger than the religious

Even Islamic Religion is growing faster than Christianity. They will be more difficult to change. Yet, once enough of them taste freedom and other ways of thinking like they are experiencing over in Europe. They will follow.
