Had an 'odd' experience that I felt compelled to share (especially since 'dating' is part of this website).
Had someone send me a friend request on FB; a lady that had a full profile, and seemed nice enough, so I accepted, and we chatted a little bit. BUT - most of her questions about me were a little, dare I say, presumptuous about us forming a deeper relationship. I stayed nice, but started to get a little uneasy when the 'what is your favorite food' and 'favorite colour' questions started coming up.
It may make me sound horrible, but as harmless as those questions can be - those are often security questions online. Scammers will use this kind of info to hack into your profiles (FB, BANKING, etc). Real damage can be done.
Now, I'm not saying this lady is/was a scammer - but it did get my spidey senses tingling a bit. While I'm sure it was harmless, I'm still not going to give out that kind of info to people I just met - and you shouldn't either.
Hope you are all well - and I hope I've not come across as a deceitful b@stard for posting this.
I'll be nice to anyone. Doesn't mean I let down my guard easily.
You actually accepted a friend request from a complete stranger that had absolutely no connection to you? You may be a little too trusting!! Did you ask her why she friended you? How did she find you amongst the millions of other profiles? I'd bet money she was a scammer. Be safe!
I actually had posed that question to her, but haven't gotten an answer back yet.
Since I am a writer, I get request from readers pretty often, so I usually accept them, and 'feel them out' so to speak.
Also, her pic looked a bit familiar, so I though she might have been someone from this website. So yeah, I know I took a chance, but I'm still trying to be vigilant.
I'll be safe - just wanted to make sure that everyone else thought about this too.
