I like to think of him as alcoholic. Especially in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, when he's sober, he's loving and kind and fun to be around. But when he's on a bender, it's hell-fire and plagues.
In the New Testament, he's sober and working the 12-Steps. However, in Revelation, he's relapsed, and drunker than ever...
