An ironic story
I grew up in Bosnia due to the war my family moved to the US in 96. We had this little house that at that time was occupied and due to war was in a bad condition, I’ve gone back many times since to visit, but going home was always hard so I didn’t, a year ago I decided to fix it, after 20 years mostly because I was ready to go back and spend time there but also because my father wanted to retire there. Finally it was livable again and that was exciting , so I got myself and my father a ticket to go there this August and surprise him, I just found out that there was an ice storm so terrible that it destroyed the roof , doors, and most windows. So now I’m just laughing not because it’s funny but how absurd it is,,,well, at least we will have planty to do.
OK...so...THIS time, it'll be perfect! Good luck!
I always tell people they should never go back to their childhood home, because it won't be how the remember it and loved it. In my case, that's rather different to yours - I don't like the fact that the new owners of my childhood home have diverted the little stream that had to be forded to drive up to the house and built a bridge over it, because hearing the car splashing through the water always made me think "we're home!" I used to work with a woman from Bosnia, what had happened to her childhood home was rather more depressing.
Wise advice. For 18 yrs I've dreams of my late grandparents home. Made the mistake of looking at it on google street & aerial view after it was sold. Super depressing. Wish I'd not done that.
Sorry to hear. Drove by my first home and it was gone, drove by my second home and it was sorely neglected. Very sad. Hope you can get repairs made.
just win start make plans, shit starts to fly
