Does he really belief the bullshit that he spews? Or does he just fool himself during the time his lips (or fingers) are moving? Or does he count on his followers not even checking any source besides his shitstorm of tweets?

Probably the latter. He knows that his loyalists want to believe the world is the way he tells them it is, because he reinforces their own prejudices.
