Here's a fellow who was one of my mentors in my early years.
I always enjoyed Asimov except that he was a letch.
He had several little foibles. Well, a couple of them were rather major. Still, if you managed to get around those, he was a good teacher. Learned much and escaped with most of my skin intact.
I believe he created the three rules (laws ) of robots in his , I , Robot , book of short stories , that was later turned into a movie starring Will Smith
Yes. The I Robot book is a collection of short stories written for the magazines Super Science Stories and Astounding Science Fiction between 1940 and 1950. They were then compiled into book form and released by Gnome Press in 1950. I don't know how many editions they've seen, but the number is up there in the clouds somewhere. They were and are incredibly popular.
The movie is based on Asimov's series, but is really not the same thing. The overall concept for the film carried some elements of Asimov's stories into it and treated them rather well. I enjoyed the film -- but then I like Will Smith a lot and I think he did a good job with this one.
I enjoy his work. I must get back to reading him, Heinlein etc.
