If the humidity gets any worse here I am going to need gills to breathe. We are having monsoons here while the western 1/4 of the country burns to a crisp. It is crazy that a mid all of this people still deny that climate is changing and that human activity plays a part.
The number one problem is to many people but the liberals want to let everybody in. Currently we don’t have the technology to quit using oil and gas. If we’re that concerned about carbon dioxide why did we stop building nuclear power plants?
I loathe Nuclear and Gas & oil. We do have the technology to go solar and wind but oil giants fund most of the opposition to anything that would hurt their bottom line. Nuclear is nice until it melts down then it is a disaster of epic proportions with very deadly long acting side effects. The Fukashima plant is still dumping radioactive waste into the Pacific Ocean. It is not sealable and that because of one sunami and the perfect storm of conditions that no matter how well prepared for still was able to create catastophic failure. A sun spill... well we get that already and it works very effectively. If we had invested all the money spent by the oil company in solar tech we would be 100's of years advanced in tech by now. Wind and tidal are also great. Hydroelectric has been good in a lot of areas. Geothermal is a good option for like Greenland and Iceland. The point is it is doable but we just keep not investing into it.
Solar power is less expensive than that produced by fossil fuels. All that it's only necessary to build and install them. It will take a few decades to complete the job.
Nuclear plants are expensive.
@EdEarl I have 11 solar powered water pumps and I think solar power is a good power source but it’s definitely not economically ready to take the place of oil and gas. At least not yet. For one thing the sun doesn’t shine all the time so we have to have something to store power and I don’t think we have a good enough battery to do that yet.
