What is your absolute favorite TV show of all time?
Too many to mention, but here are a few in no particular order:
Law & Order- Criminal Intent; Detective Gorens the shit
GOT is my favorite if miniseries on HBO count
And OITNB, DEADWOOD, HANDMAID'S TALE
Weeds
The Americans
The Sopranos
I freakin' love The Americans! But I haven't seen this last season yet...
Growing up it was Andy's Gang. Later on came Car54 where are you. Mash, All in the Family, Then I went to JAG and NCIS and I stopped watching TV.
1 soap
2 married with children
3 cheers
4 twilight zone
5 alone
I remember Soap. It was a trailblazer for it's time. I really enjoyed watching it.
Soap should be added to my list.
The Big Bang Theory
People of Earth (so sad it was cancelled so fast )
The Guest Book (is it still coming back??)
Dr. Who
Community, and it's not even close. A ragtag group of misfits who get into college hijinks? Sign me up. Especially when it features Childish Gambino, the guy from The Soup, the lead in GLOW, and the bespectacled Brit who hosts Last Week Tonight. Television at it's absolute finest.
South Park
Over 20 years and STILL hilarious!
You have to identify genres.
Comedy - Frazier
Sci Fi - Star Trek TOS 66-69
Mystery - Twilight Zone
Adventure - Game of Thrones
Spy - Man from Uncle
Drama - Brideshead Revisted.
3 of your 6 are shows I have not watched. Please tell me what you loved about each?
@JenBeberstein which three?
@David1955 the last 3 listed.
@JenBeberstein I'm sure you must know Game of Thrones, it's like a global TV cult. The Man from Uncle, 1964-68, great classic from the 60s, absolute who's who of acting from that time support roles, a really cool show, Robert Vaughn is great. Hard to see unless you have them. Not streamed, sadly. Brideshead Revisited, UK, 1982, based on the Evelyn Waugh novel, total classic, beautifully made series. All these years later it's a joy to watch.
I'm going to have to say Star Trek TNG, not because it was the best TV show of all time, but because of the memories of that time of my life, the people I watched it with and the conversations we had about it.
Sometimes circumstance elevates what might have been unremarkable otherwise.
@JenBeberstein We were all science postgrads, so the themes of the show were very much in line with our view of the world.
@Strabo Sounds like a very interesting group of people!
