Brene' Brown, Ph.D. is a storyteller and researcher. Her 20-minute TED Talk on "The Power of Vulnerability" changed my life. Wonderful.

I listened to this and agreed with every point. I approached this site as a means to get some personal contact and perhaps make some friends. If you look at my posts and the people I follow they are mostly female, not because I am looking for a girl friend or a lover, but because I have always favored female friends. They are the hardest to get, they always think there is an agenda. They. Think they have to watch out for me. No the case, which i can prove. I have put information on this site Kate does not know about. I have opened up, I have made myself vulnerable. Why? Because that is the only way one gets people to know me and for me to get to know myself. Authenticity, vulnerability the only way to go. Now knowing this you can do the research and find things I am not happy about in myself. You can try to use them against me. Why? Do anyone need to have power over another. My answer is no, definitely not, that is the way you only get back what other people think you want. I want to communicate with those who are willing to take me for who I am. How does this work for you? Not trying to be crass, not even trying to further put myself out there. Just being me.

She is a truly beautiful person -- so, so right in her message.Making real human connections by having the courage to make yourself vulnerable adds such depth and joy to life.

On the other hand, from painful experience, let me advise others : Stay away from people who are not willing or able to make themselves vulnerable, and/or those who would use your willingness to make yourself vulnerable against you. In the long run, they can only hurt you.

How is the leg doing?

@Mikeb56
Thanks for asking. Today I hiked 4 miles with 500 feet elevation gain. The descent was painful because it jammed my injured foot into the front of my boot.

@LiterateHiker you go. Don’t overdo it.

@LiterateHiker well you have to pay the price for the walk. Perhaps thicker socks.
