In the U.S. we have what I consider an inequality when it comes to being topless. Men can go without a shirt in public but in most places a woman cannot. In Europe they're more open about female shirtless, or topless females. So my question is? Do you feel that Europeans have a healthier respect or understanding of females that are topless (being that they are raised around it, and the idea that a topless female is not taboo nor is it nearly as sexualized as it is in the United States?) Part two of the question, during foreplay and sex do Europeans fancy breast like I feel most do here in the states (I realize that's subjective)? Kissing, fondling, etc. I apologize in advance for not wording this better, I have limited time, this evening, to pose my question...
I don’t think Europe is any less prudish about women showing their breasts than USA. There are a few European women who go topless on beaches in Europe but they are mainly older women from Scandinavia or Germany. Outside of Naturist beaches you will not see any topless women in UK. Even breastfeeding is frowned on when done in public places....so no different from US there either. In private, behind closed doors, men and women the world over have the same sexual proclivities regardless of national and ethnic differences, and that includes the breast as a sexual stimulant.
@JustKip Was not including native tribes, but assumed Willreef was referring to societies in which full body clothing was normal everyday wear. And yes Ihave travelled to all of these continents and have observed native cultures.
@JustKip Okay, I don’t remember that when I visited, but I’m sure you know more about that than me!
I live in Australia and have not been to a topless beach, it is not nearly as common as you think.
@peststudio It may just be wishful thinking on JustKips mind!
We're not actually that much more open about it here. You may occasionally see a woman sunbathing topless on the beach or even in a park. especially in very liberal nations such as Denmark and Sweden, but it's more usually confined to nudist sections of public areas in other countries and is virtually unknown in the more conservative states such as Poland and traditional, Catholic, parts of Italy, Spain, Ireland and so on - we also have issues with people who object to women breast-feeding in public, finding the very concept of a breast being openly visible in public absolutely scandalous.
Secondly, yes. Europeans like breasts too. I think just about everyone does - even many straight women and gay men.
Thanks for the reply I've observed toplessness in Rota, Spain. I don't know if that's a normal thing there. It didn't seem like a big deal to anyone. Thanks for your reply.
@Willreef It's certainly more common in places such as Rota which, being a resort, is interested in letting tourists do pretty much anything the like so they (and their wallets) will want to come back next year too. Go to a more traditional fishing village a little further along the coast and it's a very different matterb
American also, but let me just say with, my admittedly limited experience #NotAllEuropeans. Your typical European is (probably) more likely to be cool with toplessness compared to us Americanos. That said, they're likely to be less cool with driving a car around everywhere or owning a gun or sensationalized violence on TV.
These are all cultural things, and this country was founded partially by people who led lifestyles comparable to the Mennonites. I wouldn't say either is right or wrong personally, it's hard for cultural makeup to be defined so absolutely. IMO.
