For you Dungeons and Dragons players ... I'm just starting out with this game and we'll see if I have enough imagination to move forward. @MrLizard

I used to incorporate gods, taboos and superstitions from other cultures and eras. I also found the players could get themselves into all sorts of interesting situations without my help
I began playing D&D in 1976, three years after it came out. I played for 20 years and even adapted the concept to a Medeival Japan version for my karate club. I used every mythological creature from as many cultures as I could find. Never focused on religion in any of my game iterations. Our clerics were generic religion. never any particular faith.
@DeeTee We used Greyhawk, some AD&D and random modules. We drew our own world.
