so the cheese serves as hammock for the filling or is there a full bun underneath? Looks pretty darn good.

@germangirl90439 so my hammock hypothesis holds then. (now Bavarian Pretzel recipe find I must hmmmm in a Yoda voice)

@MrLizard they are very dense, not that sweet at all. They are boiled in honey sweetened water but it doesn't contribute a lot of overall sweetness either.

@MrLizard the process is as follow: mix ingredients, knead, retardation (ferment in fridge overnight or 24h), form bagel, flash boil in honey water, apply sesame seeds, bake.
