Went to the bank today & was asked for ID. I presented my passport. The woman at the counter didn't know if she could accept it for ID (!). She'd never even seen a passport before. She called over 2 other tellers who likewise had never seen one.
I said to them, Well if it's good enough forall foreign governments, it should be good enough for this bank branch. They still had to call the branch manager to see if they could accept a passport!
Then all 3 of them asked why a person would ever need or want a passport. I looked around to see id I was being punked. I told them "well I might need to leave the country in a hurry" They just stared at me like 3 meercats popping out of their burrow.
I left shaking my head. Comments anyone?
There are some stunningly stupid people in the world. I was recently at a fast food place and the girl at the register couldn't figure out how to make change. So a manager ran around trying to find a calculator. No luck. Then ANOTHER manager came over and did the math. And gave me the wrong change.
Holy Fuck......and I thought I had to get out more!!!!!!!!!!!
My passport is currently expired. Even so, it is the most accurate form of ID in the USA. I once used it to cash a check in a local store and what I am writing you now is what the clerk told me. I suspect that your tellers are very naive and could be easily fooled. They either never plan on leaving Wisconsin for another country or they do not watch TV. I hope the branch manager cashed your check for you.
The new passports will be different and even have a chip inside them. When you renew the old one it will be a lot like $100 bills with a strip and a chip. I was told it will be "totally new" but I doubt that. To have a complete record they will simply add pages to go along with the old.
Face-palm. . . . but with trump's approval still above 40% - - not surprising.
Reminds me when UPS required me to fill out a customs form to ship something to Puerto Rico. It was easier to fill out the form than it was to convince them Puerto Rico was part of the US.
