I am having a tough time with doctors in this state I moved to. I went to a primary care physician as I needed someone to prescribe my meds. A week after that appointment, I'm told I need to have my meds prescribed by a psychiatrist. So I'm scrambling to find one before my scrips run out. I have a mental evaluation tomorrow and they are supposed to place me with a psychiatrist and hopefully a counselor. And my pcp tells me she won't prescribe my pain meds and I have to go to a pain clinic. So I did and they ordered an MRI. Or they were supposed to. I've had 2 cancelled because there has been no pre authorization so I had to call my pain clinic back and ask what's up. Lady on the phone couldn't tell me anything and said someone would call me by tomorrow. Meanwhile I have another MRI scheduled for this Saturday. They will probably cancel on me again. I cannot understand why these doctors are not on the ball. Every day I'm having to spend at least 2 hours on the phone trying to get this shit worked out. And it's not even my fault! Anyone else experienced anything like this because I'm about to lose my mind.
I'm so sorry to hear how rough it's been for you, and I wish I could say it's unusual but I'm going through something similar with my change of insurance carriers this year (my old carrier pulled out of the state for individual policies). Unfortunately, I have no wisdom to offer. Perhaps if you contacted your old doctor and explained the situation, he could call in a short-term refill to your new pharmacy?
Oh, yuck. It's so absurd, and I feel for you. I wish you good luck with the evaluation moving you forward quickly (and economically).
Reading your post, I figured you'd moved to the southeastern US. Your profile states Maryland. You've no idea how depressing it is to hear that THAT part of the country is as F'ed up as ours when it comes to medical... I hope you are able to keep your care rolling without interruption.
I would keep on them. Not sure where you moved from, but different states can regulate controlled medications differently. Especially with the recent crackdown on opioids.
Also, talk to a pharmacy tech or a pharmacist about the laws. The latter should know how medications are regulated.
I can't message you, but I'm a pharmacy tech in Missouri. If you need any help, shoot me a message. I'll help the best I can!
