Is anyone thinking of the 2018 elections? I live in DC so my local elections don t really count. Wondering about other places?
In Virginia we have Tim Caine vs Stewart, who is an ardent Drumpf supporter, for senator. I'm shamefully unaware of our other options. It's too early for polls. Should be interesting. I predict Caine by ten at least.
I hope so! Virginia needs someone better.
@GreatNani you know, if you were to moved a couple hundred yards south, you could probably vote here.
@CallMeDave well Virginia I'd an open carry state so that would be hard. But yes 5 miles and I am in Northern Va.
@GreatNani yes, we are neanderthal and I'm in the thick of it. 60 miles south and I'd be in NC. Resistance is not futile, I can hope.
Like metalicious1986, I also live in Missouri, but in the middle of the state - Columbia. It is a city of 109,000 and of the University of Missouri, and is an island of blue in a sea of red. If it were not for KC and St. Louis, we would be alone in this state. Yet, I am most curious what will happen in November. We have a couple of tight congressional races (including Missouri's 4 District), a very tight senatorial race with Claire McCaskill and Josh Hawley and a number of important ballot issues, including the legalization of medical marijuana.
I have voted in every election over the last five decades and will continue until I am either feeble minded or die, whichever comes first.
I know that your vote has little weight in D.C., but you have a voice and it needs to be heard above the din of the Beltway. Vote, campaign, volunteer. One day D.C. will get the voice it deserves and you'll be the first in line. I write a bi-weekly column for the Columbia Missourian which is my contribution to the system.
You should post your column here!
@GreatNani Thank you for your support. You can read my columns at: [columbiamissourian.com]
The most recent concerns the NRA's financial "problems."
I voted last week, and I will vote in November. Here in Springfield, MO we had a city ordinance I was against. Plus, we voted on adopting the "right to work" bill for our state. It's extremely red where I live, and I absolutely hate it.
In April 2018 with two other volunteers, we registered 74 high school seniors to vote, during four, one-hour lunch breaks. The high school kindly set up tables and chairs.
"REGISTER TO VOTE!" I yelled, dancing around and waving my arms, with a big smile. "RIGHT HERE at these tables. It takes TWO MINUTES! The media says you won't vote! PROVE them wrong!"
We will do it again in September and October 2018.
At the Democrat headquarters, I plan to call students we registered to encourage them to vote.
It takes commitment to make any change!
Good for you, that's wonderful!
