People in my age bracket have a habit of pulling photos of their grandchildren from their wallet and relaying information on their privileged upbringing.I ask them, do you think your grandchildren have photos of you in their wallet and boast of your accomplishments which were far more difficult to achieve and probably more impressive.I doubt it . There are some grandchildren that may show photos but they are far and few between . Thats why I refuse to follow this example.
Lol, yes, good points
Thanks
@granny no problem, just glad to hear it from someone your age.
I have pictures of my grandparents and great grand parents all over my house. Some are on Facebook. But I also grew up in a culture that revered the elders.
I never thought about it that way you're absolutely right our descendants are so ungrateful
Just remember that to most people, all babies look alike, and they are only interested in children related to them. Showing people photos of your grandbabies likely bores them, although they will pretend interest.
Oh well, I have pics of my grandkids and will show them to anyone! Love them to pieces and they love me.
Just know that, to strangers, all babies look alike, and you are only annoying them. At least, that's my case.
@birdingnut I have never shown them to a stranger. And I always look at other peoples pictures. I really don't mind it makes me smile to see how much people love their kids and grands
Showing around pictures of grandchildren tucked away in wallets and such is so foreign an idea. Can't imagine what possesses them. Why do people expect pictures of their grandchildren to be impressive or entertaining?
This is my grandma Virginia. I was with her helping take care of her from 2006-2016 when she had a second stroke and lost mobility, needing assisted living. I hate that she’s an hour n a half away now but the facilities out there are more trustworthy and higher quality than the one in my immediate area so at least she’s in the best hands possible. But I agree, unless you just had a baby or you’re playing vicarious life one upsmanship with your friends, or you’re getting to know a new romantic interest, it’s somewhat tedious and unnecessary to be shown pics of someone else’s family usually.
I refused to have children. It freed up a lot of time, money, and drama.
When people try to show me their kids/descendants, I always tell them to put the photos away and tell me what they themselves accomplished and did to better the world. Some people get all butthurt. It's pretty funny.
Hell, my mother's grandkids never come over let alone have a picture of her lol. 6 of them live out of state. 2 of them go over once in a while (only because they're brought there), and the other 2 go over only on Christmas Eve for a free meal of salmon, shrimp, calamari, etc etc etc.
I have pictures of my dogs, they don't need allowances, do not borrow the car on Saturday night and ya can fix them.
I agree with you . Just look at face book, very few young people have photos of their grandparents .The society and culture in this country has deteriorated in the way elderly people are treated and or respected unlike other parts of the world
I don't think is "deterioration"...at least not in all the cases. I don't have a pic of my parents and / or siblings in my home...not one...and I don't because to take pics was not a "thing" in my family. We never sent birthday cards for the same reason.
The only pic in my wallet is the one in my driver's license.
