If a vegan restaurant opened in your area, would you go to it?
Perhaps you've already ventured into such establishment(s) before. I've really only heard of a scattered amount of places near my area. Do you believe there's a demand for such places in or near your area?
One of my favorite restaurants of all time was a vegan restaurant. I'm neither a vegan nor vegetarian, however I'm not a huge meat eater either, so I guess it isn't a huge transition for me to eat in a vegan restaurant.
I agree. While I am a meat eater, I do love some vegitarian dishes.
And being a former chef, I always made it a point to have a few vegitarian dishes on any menue I've made. I will gladly try to make their dining experience well. but I really don't like manic advocates from either side. Just eat what you like. And I've always tried to make that comfortable for all.
Sure, I would go. Being Greek also included many delicious vegetarian dishes. In Greece many people can't afford meat but once or twice a week.
I love greek food !
Absolutely, now that we know all of the damage that Industrial Animal Agriculture does to our World. Not even considering the damage that cows milk protein, casein, does to everyone. Eating Whole Food Plant Based is the only alternative.
Agreed
Jesus yes. But I’m vegan, so there’s that. ?
Same here.
They are plentiful in this area. Even my island has a vegetarian wraps/bowls place. [yelp.com]
Nope. I’d mount a one man protest about their unfair discrimination against meat.
I would not simply because vegans use a lot of nuts for protein and it would kill me.
I have no interest in vegan stuff but I went to see a mate in Amsterdam who is. We met for lunch & he took me to a place called vegan junk food & to be honest I was impressed.
I would go there again
I am meat eater. Does not matter where I am.
It would really depend on the food. I've been to some amazing ones and also some awful ones. I'm not a vegan, but I want to get more plant-based foods into my diet and cut down on animal-based products, so for me it's important to find delicious ways to prepare non-meat meals so it's more of a incentive to eat that way. The good ones make me want more; the bad ones make me crave a hamburger.
I certainly have no problem with a vegan restaurant but I probably wouldn't patronize one I love meat way too much with that said I've ran into lots and lots of vegans in the Pacific Northwest I don't know if there's enough of them to actually sustain an eating establishment though
But seriously though, I do enjoy fresh raw dietary options. I think I'd rather visit Vietnamese and Thai restaurants as options to a vegetarian eating. Indian restaurants are also great. The idea of meat substitute options makes no sense to me (hyperbole) I get the ideology of trying to attract carnivores with flavor profiles they are accustomed to. But it's like ordering a non alcoholic beer or decaf coffee, or diet Coke, or ordering Fish at a Steakhouse. Just wrong! ?
@Fibonacci1618 I love me some JP Sears!
I lean toward ethnic food when eating out, especially Indian or Thai. Since many dishes are naturally veg, there’s not a lot of tweaking that needs to be done. Plus, spice!
As far as meat substitutes go, I’m so happy they’ve become more plentiful and convenient. I work long shifts and appreciate being able to pop some chikn strips in the microwave and make a quick meal. The textures have improved so much over the years!
I’ve been vegan for 7+ years now... I know we can be annoying. ? But, it comes from desiring a peaceful world for all earthlings.
@NCcaroline I just haven't found anything that I would buy consistently as delicious meat substitute. If you have any recommendations for brands or types of protein alternatives. I can't bring myself to ask about meat substitutes. But there you go. Feel free to toss one or two in there if you're willing. Thanks in advance!
@Fibonacci1618 I mostly just cook food. ? Really though, the need for protein is overstated, at least in America. If a person is truly protein deficient, chances are they are deficient in other areas and very sickly. Vegetables, grains etc all have protein. I mostly use tofu and lentils and nuts, and for convenience, I like the Gardein products. They make the chikn strips I mentioned earlier.
If I crave a burger, the best I’ve found is the Beyond Burger. They are found in the refrigerated section at Whole Foods and the like. If you are dining out, look for The Impossible Burger....it even “bleeds” ?.
But I personally love tofu! It has a bad reputation because you gotta know how to cook it.
Sorry about the immature meme.
@NCcaroline Love it ! Your humor, and meme. Not semen! Lol !
I live in New Jersey so we do have vegan restaurants. I took my daughter to one once when she was a vegan. What I got was good. But I probably wouldn’t go again unless I was with another vegan who wanted to go. I’m not a big fan of meat substitutes. I don’t like the taste or the texture.
There has been a vegan restaurant open in my area for several years. They don’t really serve anything I would eat. Lots of tofu and “fake” meats made out of “natural” ingredients. The salads are decent, but it’s pricy and not very convenient.
Absolutely, I have not eaten out in almost 5 years because of the salt, processed foods and substitute ingredients which will alter your total body composition.
I tried vegan burgers made bg Chloe in New York City.. amazing ?
