So, i just spent about 45 minutes with a guy that was trying to tell me about his... philosophy regarding life, I guess. He wears a cross but doesn't believe in the divinity of Jesus. Rather, he believes that Jesus was a flawed human being that had the strongest electrical field of everyone and that his field bounced off/interacted with others that had a strong electrical field which were the Apostles. So nothing Christian about it. I tried to understand the rest of it but apparently he believes that math plays a role in the circumstances of our lives, provides validity to the zodiac signs, validity to predictions and discoveries of the ancient Aztec and other old civilizations, and everything is wrapped up in the pull and sway of the earths electrical field.
It is difficult to convey the intensity with which he was speaking and trying to describe to me his beliefs.
I guess the reason I am posting this is I am trying to decide how to react to such ideas. Have you ever heard anything like this and how do you think I should react in possible future interactions? I am actually a little curious in what his beliefs are from an intellectual perspective. Maybe we have the start of another religion on our hands?
Who cares? People always have their weird beliefs and Jesus didn't even exist anyway.
You may not need to react at all. If you’re interested, just listen. If you have questions, ask them. All too often, when people have worldviews they are hungry to share, they aren’t really equally hungry to hear yours. So all they usually want you to do is listen. If you get tired of it and lose interest, all you have to do is start talking nonstop about your worldview and they will quickly find an excuse to end the conversation. This is a generalization of course, there might be the rare exception.
Holy batshit crazy! Like, I co-opted the Christian deity and made up a whole new batch of super nutty shit about him batshit crazy! I would avoid him like any other religious nut/conspiracy theorist/wackado.
