I'm looking for a new author or a stand-alone novel. I have really slacked off as far new material to devour lately and would appreciate any suggestions.
Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend - Matthew Dicks
Penpal - Dathan Auerbach
Hollow World - Michael J. Sullivan
City of Thieves - David Benioff
The Hollow City - Dan Wells
Some books I enjoy readign every few years or so ae...
Shogun by James Clavell
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
The Persian Boy by Many Renault
An author who has never disappointed me is Thomas Perry, who wrote "The Butcher's Boy" series adn the Jane Whitefield series.
From Stephen King, I'd recommend "Cujo" as probably his best book. I think hes better bookds do9nt' involve the supernatural or surreal aspects.
When my "to read" list gets sparse, I will turn to Nobel prize winners, or Pulitzer prize winners, or will dearch for "classics" which I have yet to read, in part, to make up for where my formal education was lacking.
I'm a huge Steinbeck fan. I played Tom Joad in a college production.
I, Lucifer by Glen Duncan
The World On Blood by Jonathan Nasaw
The Alienist
Elinor Oliphant is Completely Fine
Forgive me Leonard Peacock
The Girl With All The Gifts
The Girls
The Kite Runner
A Man Called Ove
The Nightingale
All The Light We Cannot See
The Drowning Guard
This Is Where I Leave You
A Long Way Down
Wool
The Giver
The Hangman’s Daughter series
The Lovely Bones
The Night Circus
By new you mean recently written, or new to you? Prayer for Owen Meany but that is a classic, more or less.
I second this suggestion. I also liked The World According to Garp and The Hotel New Hampshire. Last Night in Twisted River and Until I find you I also liked. Setting Free the Bears....ok...maybe I just really like this author.
Allie Brosh Hyperbole & a half. She's funny, poignant, and just plain brilliant. Graphic novel done in MS paint . She was picked up for a book deal from her blog.
Thanks
You may want to suggest which is your field of interest .
I pretty much open to any field. I could stand to broaden my perspectives.
