Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Well, schisms exist within the political parties not to mention religious denominations. I, for one, disagree with the idea of eliminating religions all together. I don't think that is necessarily good or possible.

Change the word from atheist to the name of any religion and the joke ceases to be.

Yes, I think that's the heart of the joke: There is Christian-on-Christian violence, there's Muslim-on-Muslim violence, as a consequence of the religious belief, but we've never heard of the atheists going to war against the agnostics due to ideological differences.
