I'm reading "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari about the emergence of Homo sapiens from a fairly large number of alternate human species. Inciteful and sweeping history of our arguably too rapid progression from hunter/gatherer to astronaut.

Yeah, the problem is that our emotional nature has not kept pace with our intellectual quantum leaps.

Despite the advancement in our intellectual capacity, we still seem to be essentially hunter/gatherers, trying to cope in a world that has evolved faster than we have.

Spot on.

Am Reading this, but find that this is a type of sequel to Dawkin's Selfish Gene.
Homo Sapiens has emerged for reasons of the ability to dominate all others as the supreme predator and has now outstripped itself and has only itself within which to compete for resources, which IMO is easy to see in the worlds conflicts.

Ive had this book on my shopping list for a while..ill have to get it

It's quite wonderful. I'm only 1/4 into it and it has had a huge impact on my thinking.

We were encoded not to evolve beyond certain parameters of growth, but that failed. Now we are all in the same soup of light, and darkness.

Encoded? Do you mean that our DNA has not advanced in sync with our intellectual growth?

It seems true. The last cranial jump to 1600 cc, seems to have focused itself primarily in the logico-mathematical portion of our brain. We then began using our newly found capacity to remove and buffer ourselves from our evolutionary environment. Lodt contact with many of our basic instincts.

No direct proof, just conjecture based on the record of human experience.

I loved it, and have it in my Kindle library.

But now I lean more toward Lloyd Pye's theories as told about in Intervention Theory Essentials (Everything You Know Is Wrong Essentials Book), since he proved evolution time lines were impossible.

With all due respect, Pyle has not proved what you posit. Some of his theories rank up there with believing in god.

That sounds like a pretty good book. I'll have to take a look at it.

Spelling: insightful

You obviously understood.

Indeed. Missed that one as did my spelling/grammar checker.

@jlynn37 Yes, but as misspelled it had a meaning quite the opposite to the one intended. As such, it briefly conjured up an image contrary to the one the writer wanted, thereby temporarily impairing his message. With my having made the correction, Marc will better be able to catch this in the future…

It’s particularly tragic given that some of us are capable of operating at a higher level … but encumbered by the ignorant masses..

Seems the species does not evolve at the same rate.

@jlynn37 My intellectual capacity is fairly refined. My biological drives are less so.
