Maybe it's time to start picketing outside churches, especially on Sundays. Maybe it's time to take the fight right to their doors.
Peaceful protests with a good agenda would be great.
My agenda is I want their influence out of everyone's lives. They can believe whatever they want, but they have to keep it to themselves. No more interference in the luves of others.
What would you be picketing against? People have a right to believe what they want and to congregate if they wish.
It doesn't have anything to do with 'their' rights, and everything to do with the rights of everyone else. Btw, I can picket whatever I please. I also have the right to completely dismiss their delusional beliefs.
@KKGator True, you can picket whatever you want. What is the point though? You have a right to not believe.
Sometimes giving someone more attention is better for them. Your picketing might wind up giving them more support.
@itsmedammit It's no longer possible to "live and let live" anymore.
They ALL need to know that they can believe whatever they please, but they don't get to use their delusions to influence how everyone else lives.
I see many helpful sides to those who choose to believe. They help people who need things government services do not provide. The churches do alot of good but . . . . .
Sadly they monetize their message and seek government subsidy (pay NO taxes) while lobbyists seek to get Congress and the courts to legislate morality.
Most religions want their cake and to eat it too BUT do not share with those not of their kind. The really strict churches hamper learning and are especially unhelpful in the area of sex education.
Picketing outside churches if the message was correct and stated in a way to maybe get them thinking. Course you have to be ready for confrontation, you know they will get in your face. They are the righteous after all.
I think it depends on the church. If it's a church that pickets Pride parades, Abortion Clinics, things like that, then "maybe..." Maybe if you handed out science literature...
But it's something that could backfire bigly...
Doesn't mean it's not worth doing.
We are too amorphous to organise a proper campaign....we are really only a scattered grouping who don’t organise and meet . We are just a bunch of likeminded individuals. There wouldn’t be enough of us to be effective. Anyway what would our placards say?
If we're to picket.....what's our agenda?
Whatever anyone wishes. There's quite a bit to protest.
Personally, I'd be up for calling them out on their blatant disregard
for the safety of children, and their disgusting self-protection.
Btw, it's not just the catholics, either.
I’m radical. Start paying taxes, and prove how you are protecting our children. Or close your doors.
@IAmLove And...get out of politics!
Start with stopping sexual/psychological abuse. I think this is the most effective way "in".
@KKGator I think we should demand thorough scrutiny of all child abuse and sex scandals, Hollywood, politicians, churches...then universally condemn all perverts.
Too many seem to love whataboutism to excuse idiocy and people are suffering permanent damage bc we're stupid.
I don'6t think so... It reminds me too much of hte tactics of the Westboro Baptist Church.
Besides, those peopel who are happy with their delusions will NOT be grateful toi you for destroying they delusions of happiness. Helping someone out of religion is like helping someone out of an addiction. The person has to want help in order for your efforts to be effective.
Okay. You don't have to.
Too bad. We have to get their attention! This will never stop unless drastic action is taken by someone other than church personnel.
