I have been growing a different kind of vegetables for about 7 years. But I got tired of it all. I am not so young anymore, and my bones are aching after working long hours on the plot. My wife suggested me not to plant vegetables this year, but just to plant bush roses in front of the house to decorate the yard. I bought knockout roses. As far as I know, they're not very demanding at all. The salesman promised us that they would grow, and the bush would be very lush, and the flower would be big. But in reality they grew small and sickly. I think I need to know how to choose a fertilizer for knockout roses.

PINEAPPLES! I saw kind of Lifehack on YouTube, and I am trying to grow them, it has taken me a few tries already, but I am not giving up... I'm not even sure they grow in my region.

I have a few tree saplings and some sage. I'd like to grow a hundred different things but my time is limited, lately.

My dad grows vegetables. He was always fond of gardening and tractors. I guess I inherited his passion because I used to help him a lot when I lived with my parents. When I asked him about his birthday, he told me that he wanted more supplies from the plant & machinery - [machinerydealer.co.uk]. I asked him about the company, and he said it was his favorite. I did some research and decided to give him what he wanted. He was so happy to see his gift because I knew how much he loved gardening and tractors. I am proud of him.

Asparagus. They occupy my entire plot in the garden all year but only make food in spring. Huge plants that won't let me grow anything else.

I tried growing artichokes and had the same problem. Don't yield much but take all year to begin ripening

Going to plant some winter greens within the next month or so.

I have tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapenos, poblanos and herbs. The tomatoes are winding down a bit, but the poblanos are coming on strong. I've made several quarts of pesto from the basil and I've been roasting the tomatillos for salsa (and using the jalapenos), Next year I think I'll cut back on the tomatoes and ramp up the poblanos. I'll keep a lot of tomatillos if only because the flowers seem to attract hummingbirds. I just have two 4x4 raised beds and pots for the herbs.

Awesome lol

The garden is winding down now....but I had a great year!
4 kinds of squash, sweet corn, cucumbers, okra, 3 kinds of watermelon, 12 kinds of tomatoes, eggplant, 14 kinds of peppers, cantaloupes, beets, carrots, and greens.

the photos are from back in may/june

It was a good year. Lots of canning/freezing done and lots given away and donated to the food bank too.

Mostly succulents.

2 kinds of sunflowers, 4 different kinds of strawberries, beets, lettuce, beans, and a lone tomato.

Nice

Give us more choices. Flowers feed the soul.

I can easily buy fresh fruit and vegetables at fruit stands and the Farmer's Market.

Sorry got lazy adding choices to the poll lol

It's my first year and it was unoccupied for a year. All I planted was a hosta, which has, of course, been eaten by local wildlife.

Awww

Nothing. I am not in the proper headspace to care for anything living at the moment... ) :
It's okay though, it's partly by design. I don't have any pets right now either. Maybe in the next year or two, but not at the moment. I used to keep pretty decent gardens though.

Get well soon. Gardening is the best therapy IMHO

Acre peas -- a delicious southern field pea. One can make a meal of acre peas and cornbread.

If I had a garden it would be weeds.

Very cute

I grow Peperoncini rossi.
They are an Italian pepper.
Great flavor, and not to hot, I use them in quite a few dishes.
I also grow sweet basil.
They both grow well here in Florida.

Ooooooohhhhhh, I bet that means I can grow them in Louisiana - peperoncis! Yay! Next year is going to be awesome!!!

@BlueWave There a few different kinds from all over the world.
Although I do like the common green ones, the ones I grow are the Italian Rossi.
They are a little bigger, they are not that hot but have a great flavor.
And yes they thrive in warmer climate, so they would grow well for you in Louisiana.

Molto bene

I love basil, I grow it on my kitchen windowsill; I love caprese salad.

@Cassiopeia My grandmother used to make the best caprese salad.
She grew her own Italian plum tomatoes, and Basil, and used real buffalo motz.
I can a good one myself, but not as good as she did.
And yes, I love basil, nothing like picket fresh basil.

@Cassiopeia, @santocoyote grazie molte

I added artichoke this year. Last year it was horseradish. The year before asperagus and black current. Really 🙂

Have you harvested any artichoke yet?

@BlueWave its just a baby still.....bout the same size as when i put it in.
Im not sure i want to eat it but im working on permaculture 🙂
I think my answer is they have yet to bud 🙂

@Patternsdancing Cool!!! ?

Cool

Where’s the ‘flowers’ box?

I have some luscious cherry tomatoes and some rhubarb, but that’s all the edibles other than a couple of herbs.

My garden is full of Busy Lizzie, nicotiana and begonias.

Very pretty!!!

You can't eat flowers. Also avoid roundup. Well Nasturtiums and squash flowrs are edible lol

@santocoyote I don’t need to grow food, I do need to chill in my garden amid the beauty of the flowers.

I don’t use roundup, I am perplexed why you think I would and feel the need to tell me not to. I get ladybird larvae to eat the greenfly and black fly.

Doing great man!
