Seems familiar. Asking scientific questions of religious stories is what changed things for me. When I saw there was no evidence for the Genesis flood it opened the door to questioning everything and eventually discovering that no Supernatural things have ever been confirmed as true. Now I am happier and the world makes much more sense.
